Dear Friends in Christ,

Through the Sacrament of Baptism we are called into a lifelong journey of Faith Formation, which is made possible by the gift of catechesis (instruction and learning about our faith and developing a personal relationship with God).   We really never stop learning about our faith until one day we stand before God.  I am very grateful to all who assist in the Ministry of Catechesis in our parish community.  Catechists include those who help with Faith Formation for Children and Youth, the staff of the Child Care Center and Parish School, Adult and New Evangelization ministries, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and Sacramental Preparation including Baptism and Marriage.  In many ways all of the faithful are catechists because as disciples we can teach by the example that we provide to others in our daily lives.  If you have not taken a step in faith recently, please consider this an invitation to participate in a Small Group Study, to act as a Sponsor for someone seeking initiation, or to attend a lecture or program that is sponsored throughout the year.  I know that you won’t regret it!

Next weekend we will host a speaker at all of the Masses to update us on our Sister Diocese in the Dominican Republic.  Thank you in advance for your generosity.

When you come before the Lord this week, please pray for our Clergy, Religious Sisters and Staff….  asking the Lord to provide us with the qualities necessary to minister to our parish community.  Know that we will pray for you, your loved ones and your intentions.  We may not see each other each day but may we meet each day in our prayers!

In Christ,

Very Rev. Stephen D. Parkes, V.F.
