Dear Friends in Christ,
The Annunciation Fall Festival 2015 is now but a memory, however, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all who helped to plan and lead this huge undertaking. Many hours are spent months before the Festival in preparation to ensure that this community event is well organized and executed. I am also very grateful to all who volunteered their time and talent to ensure that the booths were staffed. Finally, I am most appreciative of those who participated and supported Fall Festival 2015 by attending and participating. I hope that you enjoyed your time at the Festival! The profit from the Fall Festival is divided among local charities who have submitted an application explaining their need. More will follow about the distributions, but please know I am extremely grateful for your prayers and support!
This Wednesday, October 21, we will celebrate a Living Rosary in the Church at 7:00 pm. If you have not attended previously or are not familiar with this prayer experience, we form a human Rosary around the inside perimeter of the Church. Each of the ‘beads’ is represented by someone holding a candle. The Church is in darkness but as the candles are lit we are able to experience the warmth of the Blessed Mother’s love upon us as we pray together. October is the month of the Rosary so I strongly encourage you to attend and bring the whole family. If you would like to participate as a Candle Bearer, more information is located below.
Earlier this year you may remember that we promoted a Marian Pilgrimage for our parishioners. At the time, the trip seemed to be months away but the week of departure has finally arrived. Over 80 travelers along with our three beloved Religious Sisters and I will depart this upcoming Thursday for Fatima (Portugal), Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and Lourdes (France). Please know that we will hold you, your intentions and your loved ones in our prayers. I ask that you please remember us as well and pray for safe travel and many spiritual graces. For a number of years, I have felt the desire to make this trip and I am glad to be able to go with a group from our parish. We will return on October 31st. Although we may not see each other during this time, may we meet each day in our prayers!
In Christ,
Very Rev. Stephen D. Parkes, V.F.
