Dear Friends in Christ,

Today we celebrate Veteran’s Day, which gives us the opportunity to honor all who served in the military.  In our country we are very blessed with the privilege of many freedoms, and are grateful to the men and women who have helped to preserve these gifts.  On Monday, November 12 we will honor all Veterans at the 12:15pm Mass and sponsor a special luncheon immediately after in the Life Center.  Thank you for your service to our country!

Over the past four weeks on Sunday afternoons we have begun Sacramental Preparation for the youth of our parish who will be confirmed by Bishop Noonan on March 1, 2013.  The teen candidates meet with their Catechists while the parents or sponsor attend a session for adults at the same time.  I enjoy these sessions as it provides me with a chance to speak about the beauty of the sacramental journey that we experience throughout the course of our lives.  As part of the session, I ask for each person to submit a question about our faith, our parish, etc.  The questions presented help me as your Pastor to gain a better understanding of what is on the minds of parishioners.  Please pray for our Confirmation for Youth candidates as they continue this journey and also for the adults who are fine examples and role models to them.   Next weekend our Youth Ministry is sponsoring a retreat for all high school age teens.  I know that it will be a great weekend and it is not too late to sign up!

When you come before the Lord this week, please pray for the Priests and Religious Sisters of our parish.  Know that we will lift you in prayer as well.  May we meet each day in our prayers!

In Christ,

Very Rev. Stephen D. Parkes, V.F.
Pastor
