Dear Friends in Christ,

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Let us remember the brave men and women who have served in the military, especially those who died in combat. This weekend marks the unofficial start of summer and a chance to begin a much anticipated time of year. It is a new beginning for all of our graduates no matter from our school, local high schools, universities and further studies. The word ‘commencement’ means a start or a new beginning. Graduations are a time to give thanks for the gift of education but also to look forward with great hope for what the future holds. To all of our graduates… may God guide and protect you in your journey!

The last days of school are also upon us. Some of our local public schools have already finished and Annunciation Catholic Academy concludes the academic year this Wednesday. I hope that it has been a good year for all of the children of our parish. The ability to learn and be creative is an incredible privilege. During the school year, many families are very busy and ‘overscheduled’. May the upcoming weeks of summer be an opportunity for some rest and relaxation without being on a time schedule. And of course remember that there is no vacation from God. If you are traveling over the upcoming months, please visit MassTimes.org to find a local Catholic parish at your destination and please bring a bulletin back for me to peruse.

When you come before the Lord this week, please pray for me. Know that I will remember you and your intentions in my prayers. May we meet each day in our prayers!

In Christ,

Very Rev. Stephen D. Parkes, V.F.
Pastor
