Dear Friends in Christ,
As we progress through the season of Lent, I want to thank you for your commitment to Living Faith. This is the title of the meditation booklet that was sent to all of our registered households. Each day, a short reading is provided to help us grow spiritually. I hope that you are taking the time to read the reflection either individually or with your loved ones. If you have adopted other disciplines this Lent, I hope that they are going well for you!
Another way that we can Live our Faith is through the Core Values presented in the 2015 Annual Report. Each week we are highlighting one of the Core Values here in the bulletin and during the homily so that we can become more familiar with what is most important to us as a faith community. Please take note of this week’s highlighted Core Value: Knowledge of our faith and Catholic traditions. We are always called to learn more about our faith as we advance in years. I hope that you will take part in an Adult Formation opportunity or Small Groups to expand your knowledge of Catholicism and also to develop and implement Catholic traditions in your home.
Thank you for your attention to the 2015 Our Catholic Appeal. If you have not yet had the opportunity to participate, please take one of the pledge cards home with you this week as a reminder. You may return them at Mass or at the Parish Office. I also am grateful for your generosity to the Ash Wednesday collection which will be donated to Bishop Grady Villas. As advocates for those with special needs, we can make a difference in promoting the dignity of every human life!
When you come before the Lord this week, please whisper my name to the Almighty. Know that I will pray for you, your loved ones and your intentions. We may not see one another every day but may we meet each day in our prayers!
In Christ,
Very Rev. Stephen D. Parkes, V.F.
Pastor
