Dear Friends in Christ,

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.  This is an opportunity for us to marvel at the mystery of the relationship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and be thankful for the manner in which we are invited into the beauty of Trinitarian love.

I would like to thank you for your prayers for my brother as he is ordained a Bishop this Tuesday, June 5 and installed as the Shepherd of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee.  The days this week will bring a Parkes Family Reunion (of sorts) as we gather to celebrate with him.  Know that I am grateful for your support and friendship during this time of transition for us.

Today at the 12 noon Mass and reception following we honor Sr. Teresa Mary Dolan, MHSH and Sr. Mary Schoberg, IHM.  Thank you, Sr. Teresa Mary and Sr. Mary, for your ministry and dedicated service to Annunciation Catholic Church.  Be assured of our prayers!

Now that the thermometer is in the 90’s it is evident that summer has arrived in Central Florida!  Our local schools are either finishing the final week of the academic year or have dismissed for the summer break.  With the busy schedules that many families assume during the school year, I hope that summer will bring an opportunity for some rest and relaxation.  I notice that many people today are very over-scheduled….busy being busy!  The heat of summer should give us a hint to slow down and enjoy some unscheduled time.  If you are traveling, please know that I pray that you have a safe and enjoyable vacation.  Just a reminder also that no matter your destination, there is a Catholic Church not far away that will look forward to receiving your visit for Mass on Sundays (or for the Vigil Mass on Saturday evening).  Please visit www.masstimes.org to find the nearest Catholic Church at your destination.

I hope that the days ahead afford you the opportunity to rest with God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).  As is so beautifully proclaimed in Psalm 46:  Be still and know that I am God!  May you find time to deepen your relationship with God and rest in His presence!

In Christ,
Very Rev. Stephen D. Parkes, V.F.
