Dear Friends in Christ,

I hope that you are enjoying our Lenten meditation booklet, The Living Gospel.  I especially appreciate that each daily reading begins with the suggestion to spend a one or two minutes in quiet.  This is an important practice which helps in preparing our heart, mind and soul to have a conversation with God… so that we can not only give our words to Him but also receive his gentle whisper.

This Friday and Saturday we will be joining with Catholics around the world for 24 Hours for the Lord.  The schedule for our parish celebration of this universal Year of Mercy event is on page 4 of this bulletin.  Please come out during this time and be present to the Real Presence, whether for 10 minutes or for a few hours.  Jesus is inviting you to come and spend time with Him in our Church.  Thank you for being open to this invitation!

Finally, I would like to thank all who have responded to the 2016 Our Catholic Appeal.  I appreciate your dedication to selfless stewardship.  If you have not yet responded, I appreciate your taking time to pray about your gift.  Our assessment is $780,000.  I will provide an update to you as soon as we receive the most current information from the Diocese.

When you come before the Lord this week, please whisper my name to the Almighty.  Please know that I will pray also for you, your loved ones and your intentions.  We may not see each other each day but may we meet each day in our prayers.

In Christ,

Very Rev. Stephen D. Parkes
Pastor
