Dear Friends in Christ,

As we continue in this season of Christmas, I hope and pray that you and your loved ones have enjoyed a sense of peace and hope that is a special gift at this time of year.  I would also like to take the opportunity to thank you for thinking of us this Christmas with your cards and gifts (many delicious baked goods arrived at the Parish Office!).   Our Masses for the Solemnity of the Nativity were well attended and I am grateful to our Liturgical Ministers for the extra time and effort you shared to ensure beautiful celebrations.  We had many visitors at our Christmas liturgies and many expressed their appreciation for the welcome they received from our community.  Thank you!

We traditionally celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas so there are a few more days left to give honor to our remembrance of the birth of Christ.  As you begin to put your Christmas decorations away, perhaps you will consider leaving the Holy Family figures (Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus) from your Nativity Set in a prominent place in your home throughout the year.  In this manner you will be reminded daily of the need for Christ to be born into our hearts, into our homes and into our community.  As Blessed Pope John Paul II stated:  The Holy Family is the beginning of countless other holy families.  May we strive each day to make our homes sacred places where the Lord can dwell.  On behalf of our Clergy, Religious Sisters and Staff, I extend to you warm blessings during this holy season and into the New Year. Know that we pray for you, your loved ones and your intentions. Thank you for lifting us in prayer as well. May we meet each day in our prayers!

In Christ,

Very Rev. Stephen D. Parkes, V.F.
Pastor
