Dear Friends in Christ,

This Sunday’s Gospel provides a preview of things to come.  Jesus travels to Bethany and raises Lazarus from the dead.  I can only imagine the reaction of the people who witnessed this incredible miracle.  In just two weeks, we will celebrate Easter and with awe and wonder meet Jesus Christ in the glory of the Resurrection.  This Tuesday and Wednesday, the Clergy of our parish will be presenting a brief overview of the liturgical celebrations of the Triduum.  I hope that you will be able to attend to gain new insight into our high Holy Days.  As we approach the sacred days of Holy Week (schedule included in this bulletin) may you be inspired with great hope!

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your generosity to Our Catholic Appeal 2014.  I am pleased to announce that we have received pledges that meet our assessment of $597,000.  Your contributions make a difference in promoting the mission and ministries of the Diocese of Orlando.  If you have not yet contributed, it is not too late and provides an opportunity to be a part of the larger Church of the Diocese of Orlando.

Congratulations to the 117 teens and adults of our parish who celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday, April 5.  We were pleased that Bishop Noonan was able to join us.  As our newly Confirmed are blessed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit may they always serve the Lord with peace and joy!

As you come before the Lord this week, please pray for me and the Priests and Religious Sisters who staff our community.  Know that we will remember you, your family and your intentions in our conversations with God.  We may not see each other each day but may we meet each day in our prayers!

In Christ,

Very Rev. Stephen D. Parkes
Pastor
