Dear Friends,

During the month of May, we honor the Blessed Mother.  As our spiritual mother, she is close to the Almighty as the Queen of Heaven and intercedes on our behalf.  I hope that you will consider attending our next Living Rosary to pray the beauty of this devotion as a community.  We will be praying the Glorious Mysteries as we celebrate the Easter Season, and the intention for our Rosary will be for a greater respect for the dignity of human life.

Today we also celebrate the gift and vocation of motherhood.  It is an opportunity to give thanks for the gift of motherhood and to pray for our own mother (living or deceased) and for those in our life who have helped nurture us with the qualities of a mother.  If you would like to remember your mother (or someone special) at our Masses during the month of May, there is a basket at the foot of the altar.  Please feel free to place her name in the basket for this special Mother’s Day Novena.

I have noticed in recent weeks that many college students have returned home for the summer.  I hope that it is a blessed and productive summer for you with family and friends.  If you have recently graduated from college or received an advanced degree, be assured of my good wishes and prayers as you begin a new chapter of your life.

Finally, if you have not yet returned your Commitment Card for the 2012 Annual Stewardship Renewal, it is not too late!  Thank you always for your support and prayers for our parish, our Clergy and Sisters and our Staff.  Each day I pray for you, your loved ones, your intentions, and in thanksgiving for your generous stewardship of your time, talent and treasure.  We may not see each other each day but may we meet each day in our prayers!

In Christ,
Very Rev. Stephen D. Parkes, V.F.
