Dear Friends in Christ,

Our Gospel reading this Sunday highlights Jesus’ ability to teach using parables, which utilize language and examples that the listeners could easily understand and grasp the point that the Lord was making.  Parables draw us into the example given and cause us to think a little deeper about our own lives.  Jesus was the ‘ultimate’ teacher who adapted his message in order that the crowds would be able to comprehend and embrace a life of conversion.  When you hear the parables are you able to open your heart to Jesus’ message of conversion and transformation?

Last weekend we hosted Bishop Galella from the Diocese of Cuddapah in India.  He enjoyed his time with us at Annunciation and asked me to express his gratitude to you for your hospitality and generosity.  In next week’s bulletin we will include the amount that was collected for the needs in his Diocese.

Registration for Faith Formation for Children and Youth is open for all grades including High School.  Just a reminder that the Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated beginning in ninth grade in our parish.  Faith Formation is not only for the Sacrament years, though.  I highly encourage all of our families to register your children every year so that they can encounter Christ in a special way as they learn to know, love and serve Him by loving and serving others.

When you come before the Lord this week, please whisper my name to the Almighty.  Know that I will remember you, your families and your intentions.  We may not see each other each day but may we meet each day in our prayers.

In Christ,
Very Rev. Stephen D. Parkes, V.F.
Pastor
