The Big Day of Serving: November 16th, 2013
Arrive at Padre Pio’s Place at 7:00 am… we will be back at 4:30 pm.
Annunciation Youth Ministry is partnering with The Big Day of Serving to help make Transformation Village a reality for the community of Bithlo, Florida. Bithlo is a small, unincorporated town in East Orlando that has been plagued with poverty for generations. Contaminated water, no medical or dental services, lack of business, high rates of homelessness, teen pregnancy, and high school dropouts have been the norm for generations. The poverty level in Bithlo has been likened to a third-world country. Transformation Village will include a medical and dental clinic, hair salon, laundromat, school and sports field, and many other services to improve daily life for Bithlo residents.
This event is about youth and adults uniting to serve, to bring hope and help to people in need.
Projects might include:
- Landscaping
- Painting
- Cleaning projects
- Recycling projects
- Helping some low-income residents
- Removing graffiti
- Removing weeds & debris to restore the neighborhood’s beauty
Don’t worry: A variety of projects will be available at different levels of expertise,
so NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
Cost is $35 per student to cover the cost of transportation, t-shirt, lunch and materials for service project. If this cost is a burden please let us know.
You will need to complete the Diocese Release Form and bring it in with your payment (checks can be made out to Annunciation Catholic Church) by November 10th to our Parish Office or bring it to a Middle School or High School formation night.
