Small Faith Communities

Groups share thoughts on scripture; aspects of the Catholic Faith; silent time and communal reflection; enjoy some social time together; and, working together on some outreach activity.

Group Opportunities:

Men’s Small Group Fellowship – A spiritual way for Christian men to start the day by discussing the B.I.B.L.E: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. We start with the daily Mass readings or a selected book and chapter of the Bible. All participating men are always willing to listen and share. Time: Every Wednesday morning 6-7am in the Youth Center. Contact: John Adornetto 407-697-6170.

One Bread, One Body Scripture Group – We come together to study the Sunday Scriptures and to seek to put the Gospel into action through outreach efforts. Our mission statement is: “We gather to strengthen each other through God’s Word, prayer, song, and outreach. We pray for forgiveness, healing, transformation; and to be sent to try and be his light to make a difference to thsoe in need, especially the poor.” Outreach efforts include: assisting local destitute families, raising money for JMJ, working with local AIDS victims, establishing an AIDS house through the Mary Demetree Foundation, and offering life-saving medical care to those in need. Time: Every Friday 7-8:30pm in the Cultural Center. Contact: Bill Mitchell 407-252-5392.

Sunday Scriptures Study Group – We meet to study the Sunday Scripture readings, to foster a love of God’s Word, and to better understand the Sunday Liturgy of the Word. Open to all adults. Time: Friday mornings 10:30am-12noon in the Culural Center. Contact: Janine Jack 407-333-2136.

Why Catholic? – Catholics often face opportunities to share their faith with others, but lack the basic knowledge and confidence to do so. Why Catholic? has a rich scriptural and catechetical approach that gives a solid foundation for every Catholic to express their faith and be able to reach out to others in faith. Why Catholic? occurs in a prayerful small community setting that is a supportive environment for evangelization and adult faith formation. Time: Various groups meet on different days of the week and different times for six weeks in the Spring and six weeks in the Fall. Contact: 407-869-9472
